Beaches of Marche

Marche North area

The east side of the Marche region borders the Adriatic Sea and all its provinces have access to the sea. The provinces of Pesaro-Urbino and Ancona include the northern area of the Marche coasts, those of Macerata, Fermo and Ascoli Piceno the southern area.

Pesaro-Urbino

The coastal strip of the Pesaro-Urbino province includes about 40 kilometers of coastline, with mostly sandy beaches, certain free and almost pristine, others equipped with bathing establishments and served by hotels, restaurants, discos and other types of services and entertainment.

Coming down from Emilia Romagna you access the Marche region entering the town of Gabicce Mare. That of Gabicce Mare is a bay nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the Natural Park of Monte San Bartolo. The coast is sandy, the water is clear and clean: Gabicce Mare gets the Blue Flag every year since 1987. Restaurants, a large number of bathing establishments, hotels and many other facilities for recreational activities welcome tourists every year in this beautiful sea destination.

Further south we find the town of Fano, famous for its carnival, the oldest in Italy. But Fano is also famous for its coastline, divided into Lido and Sassonia, the first sandy and the second pebbly. Besides the usual bathing facilities and catering services that serve local specialties based on fish, the promenade of Fano has a long bike path for relaxing rides on the seashore.

Ancona

spiaggia-portonovoIt is instead part of the municipality of Ancona the Portonovo beach, along the most picturesque coastline of the area, since this beach is located next to the Conero Regional Park. Approaching the sea, the green of the park in fact gives way to the white pebbles of this beach, provided with equipped bathing establishments and a beautiful turquoise sea. When the sirocco blows in Portonovo the surfers gather, but the sea is perfect for bathers because of the low water depth.

Also the Mezzavalle beach is part of the municipality of Ancona, at the foot of the Conero Regional Park too. The mountainous landscape behind the beach and gravel that composes it give the coast a wild charm. Equipped bathing establishments alternate with areas where the beach is free. The sea is clean and of a color between turquoise and cobalt blue.
