Beaches of Puglia

Puglia North area

Puglia is brushed by the Adriatic Sea on the east and by the Ionian Sea on the south and west.

In the north there are the Gargano and the coasts included in the provinces of Foggia, Barletta-Andria-Trani and Bari that overlook the Adriatic Sea, in the south those in the provinces of Brindisi, Taranto and Lecce, the latter two wet both from the Ionian and from the Adriatic.

Beach of Foggia

calalunga_peschiciIn the province of Foggia is located the gorgeous beach Calalunga di Peschici, just a few kilometers from Peschici and near the Gargano National Park.

The golden beach is fringed by green woods and the sea is brilliant turquoise.

There are beach clubs and bars.

Beyond the Pugnochiuso bay is situated the enchanting Baia delle Zagare beach, a magnificent bay wet by a turquoise sea touched by rocks, sea caves and above all by a very clear and clean sand.

All around the coast is high and rugged, rock and vegetation contribute to give this place the charm of unspoiled nature.

The hotel which runs the Baia delle Zagare offers to customers beach umbrellas and chairs.

This beach is reachable by a curvy path, but it’s worth the trouble: it is a lonely beach of clear gravel, surrounded by cliffs, overlooking a crystal clear sea.

All around thrives a luxuriant greenery.

There are no bathing establishments, but it is one of the most beautiful beaches of the Gargano.

In the Santa Maria di Merino Bay, between Vieste and Peschici, there is the Long beach of Vieste.

This stretch of coast is made of golden and fine sand behind which are located several wooded areas.

There are bathing establishments, campgrounds and other facilities for tourists. The sea is very clean and this stretch is also popular with windsurfers.

Beach of Barletta-Andria-Trani

In the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani there is the magnificent beach of Bisceglie, made of pebbles and larger stones.

This coastline has been awarded more times with the Blue Flag and is a gathering place for many young people who want to enjoy both day and night thanks to the many entertainments that the location offers them.

Beach of Bari

In the province of Bari is located the Lido of Monopoli, belonging to the namesake city.

A beautiful turquoise sea laps a golden sandy beach, equipped with bathing establishments that offer numerous services.

Behind the beach rise up the typical houses of the town that create a picture postcard.

Puglia South area

Beach of Brindisi

In the province of Brindisi there is the famous seaside town of Ostuni.

7 km far from the center of the town is located the beach Torre Pozzella of Ostuni, a beautiful coastal stretch of golden sand, rocks that emerge from the waters and Mediterranean scrub close to the coast.

The sea is very clean and the beach is overlooked by an ancient sighting tower of the sixteenth century.

Beach of Taranto

spiaggia-di-ginosa-marinaOn the Ionian coast, in the Gulf of Taranto and not very far from the border with Basilicata there is the beautiful beach of Ginosa Marina, a beach of fine golden sand fringed with pine forests, with large stretches of free beach.

No lack of equipped bathing establishments and the usual clean and crystal clear sea that attracts many tourists every year.

In the Gulf of Taranto there is also the beautiful beach of Castellaneta Marina, belonging to the town of Castellaneta.

A coastal stretch several kilometers long made of fine light sand that overlooks a very clean sea, a feature that in 2015 made this location get the Blue Flag.

The beach is equipped and there are restaurants, hotels and entertainment for all ages, both day and night.

Beach of Lecce

The province of Lecce houses the beautiful Salento, full of beaches and olive groves.

Near Otranto there is the beautiful beach of Torre dell’Orso, very popular with tourists.

Overlooking the Adriatic Sea, this golden sandy beach surrounded by high cliffs it is equipped with bathing establishments.

On the waterfront and in the village there are several restaurants, bars and meeting places.

Near Porto Cesareo lies the beach of Torre Chianca, also known as the Dunes beach.

Dominated by the Tower of San Tommaso, built in the sixteenth century to fight the Saracen incursions, this white sand beach brushes a light blue sea and is surrounded by rocky areas and dune formations.

There are free beaches and bathing establishments.

baia-del-pizzoOn the Ionian coast, south of Gallipoli, stands the Baia del Pizzo, a bay where sandy areas alternate with areas with low cliffs.

The locality belongs to the Natural Park of the Isola di Sant’Andrea and it is one of the most beautiful seaboards of Salento.
