Guide to the city of Lucca
The city of Lucca is one of the most popular Tuscan destinations for national and international tourists. There are numerous historical attractions that the Tuscan capital can offer, but above it all stands the breathtaking atmosphere offered by the medieval personality of the surrounding walls around the city.
However, where to start to visit Lucca in the best way? Undoubtedly, one of the first things to do to enjoy the city at its best is to walk along the characteristic city walls. Walking through the walls, you will notice not only the vast courtyards and the historic cafes of Lucca, but you can easly reach places such as Piazza San Michele, Piazza Anfiteatro and Piazza Napoleone.
Piazza Napoleone: culture and awesome concerts
The latter is one of the destinations not to be missed when visiting Lucca. The wide spaces of the square give oxygen to the whole city, functioning as a point of relaxation and refreshment. In Piazza Napoleone many important events take place, such as the famous Lucca Summer Festival, where internationally renowned artists perform every summer. Marcus Miller, The Eagles and Snoop Dogg are just some of the big names that take place every summer at the festival.
Piazza Anfiteatro, Piazza S. Michele and nightlife
However, Piazza Anfiteatro has absolutely nothing to envy. With a large space enclosed in houses and ancient buildings, the square was an actual amphitheater of the old age and, today, several important events are organized (related to the theater and music – ancient and modern).
If our goal is to have fun and to hang out at night, Piazza San Michele is certainly the right place. That because in Piazza San Michele there are active pubs where boys and girls of Lucca party during the whole night.
Is everything inside the walls? Not really. Outside the walls there are plenty of places where you can spend the night, such as the Irish Pub, the T-Café or the Ottavo Nano, in which you can find live music (both cover and original).
