Rome is certainly one of the top listed tourist destinations, for its countless architectural and artistic works, as well as for its historical importance.<\/p>\n

One of the most beautiful places to see is the spectacular Giardino degli Aranci<\/strong>, that is the Parco Savelli<\/strong>, this is precisely located on the Aventine Hill, in Ripa district, Pietro d’Illyria square, and covers about 7,800 square meters.<\/p>\n

History of the Garden of the Oranges.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The name “Giardino degli Aranci” is due to the presence of numerous trees of bitter oranges<\/strong>. This spectacular garden covers an area of an ancient fort built by the family of Savelli between 1285 and 1287.<\/p>\n

But the garden, as we see it today, was created by the architect Raffaele De Vico<\/strong> in 1932, infact they wanted to create a new panoramic viewpoint<\/strong> (in addition to the Pincio and the Gianicolo) that overlooked by that side of the hill.<\/p>\n

This gorgeous garden has a symmetrical shape, its median boulevard is in line with the viewpoint, this was dedicated to the actor Nino Manfredi<\/strong>.
\nThe avenue then opens in two spaces, while the central square was given the name of another actor who is a symbol of Rome and the Roman world, Fiorenzo Fiorentini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Digital<\/a>In the garden you can see the particular, characteristic and beautiful fountain<\/strong> that is however made of two pieces of bare. These are the huge mask in marble that was carved for a fountain of Campo Vaccino in 1593, which is placed inside an ancient Roman thermal basin\u00a0 made of granite<\/strong>, rectangular and a bit recessed over the street level, it is decorated with two handles in low relief and edged with a band of travertine.<\/p>\n

The park today is equipped with three entrances<\/strong>: starting from the main one where you can access from the square Pietro d’Illiria<\/strong>, this really impacts, because in 1937 was added a portal from Villa Balestra; the second entrance is in Via Santa Sabina; and finally the third is accessed by going on clivo Rocca Savella<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
