Built by the Pitti family in 1457 on design by Brunelleschi, the Palace is undoubtedly one of the greatest Florentine architectural elements.<\/p>\n

In addition to the magnificent exhibitions that can be admired inside, Palazzo Pitti is very famous for its gardens, called the Boboli Gardens, among the most beautiful on the whole planet.<\/p>\n

All museums are managed by the Superintendence for the Museums Complex of Florence. Furthermore, Palazzo Pitti hosts various cultural events.<\/p>\n
The attractiveness of the Palazzo Pitti is indisputable: only in 2012 it was visited by over one million people on the whole, thus making it the most visited monument of Florence after the Uffizi and the Accademia.<\/p>\n
Over all, it is worth mentioning the Palatine Gallery and the Royal Apartments, which occupies the whole left wing of the first floor of the Palace.<\/p>\n
The collection is extraordinary: here are present works by Raphael, Titian and Correggio, to name just a few.<\/p>\n
Going up to the second floor it’s possible to admire the Gallery of Modern Art, which houses an interesting collection that goes from the second half of the ‘700 until the First World War. Most of the works are Italian.<\/p>\n
On the ground floor, instead, here is the Museum of Silvers, which presents a vast collection of precious objects, many of which belonged to the Medici family.<\/p>\n
The history of the family, from Lorenzo onwards, is shown in the seventeenth-century frescoes by Giovanni da San Giovanni.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Porcelain Museum \u2013 where you can admire the sets of table in porcelain of the Grand Dukes and the Medici, Lorraine and Savoy \u2013 you should also take a look at the Costume Gallery, which features more than 6,000 pieces of clothing, theatrical costumes and accessories, ranging from ‘500 to’ 900.<\/p>\n
It was Cosimo I who wanted the construction and commissioned the works to Niccol\u00f2 Pericoli (Tribolo) in 1549.<\/p>\n
The Cave of Buontalenti (1583), the Roman amphitheater with the Egyptian obelisk in the center, the Neptune Basin, the Statue of Abundance by Giambologna and Tacca (1563), the House of the Knight, the Garden of the Knight, the Ocean Fountain by Parigi.<\/p>\n
