When you decide to go on a mountain holiday, whether to relax with walks in the green or to dedicate yourself to skiing passion, you immediately think of the North East, the Valtellina, the Piedmontese Alps…<\/p>\n

In short, it’s rare to choose one of the central regions, such as Tuscany.<\/p>\n

Yet, right in the region famous for its art and culture, it is possible to visit one of the most evocative mountain places in the North Center.<\/p>\n

We are talking about Abetone, situated right in the heart of the Pistoia Mountains.<\/h4>\n

Perfect vacation for those who want a clear ‘break’ from the usual routine in the name of fun and sport.<\/p>\n

Abetone is located on the border with Emilia Romagna, at a height of just under 1400 meters.<\/p>\n

From the Alpe Tre Potenze, one of the highest in Tuscany (1940 meters), to the slightly lower but equally fascinating ones, such as Monte Gomito and Selletta .<\/p>\n

Not to forget the majesty of the Libro Aperto (1937 meters), a mountainous group composed of two peaks: Monte Rotondo and Monte Belvedere.<\/p>\n

In the area of the Abetone there is the same name ski area which has a certain reputation even at a certain distance, thanks to its 50 kilometers of ski slopes served by 22 ski lifts among the most modern and safe.<\/p>\n

These are clearly very important figures, which make Abetone stand out as one of the most important ski resorts in the whole Apennines.<\/p>\n

The Abetone destination is particularly appreciated also by the fact that its tracks can attract a fairly homogeneous audience.<\/h4>\n

There’s enough for everyone, and for every level of difficulty: here both professionals and beginners find satisfaction, and there are plenty of school camps for children and adults with skilled teachers who introduce to the wonderful practice of skiing.<\/p>\n

But Abetone is not just and only skiing: its enchanting landscape creates the ideal conditions also for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.<\/p>\n

In the summer months Abetone is always a popular destination.<\/h4>\n

Do not miss also a quick visit to the village, which since 1st<\/sup> January of this year has taken the name of Abetone-Cutigliano.<\/p>\n

Of particular importance is the Church of San Leopoldo, wanted by Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo, who also built the great road of Abetone to connect Florence to Modena.<\/p>\n
